Joe T. and tuff tape

In picture after picture, the faces of Joe T's beefy characters tell us what they're thinking even when they're muzzled with tape.

A picture is worth a thousand words, they say - and this artist's ability to capture an expression or a body movement allows him to tell a hot story.

His sequence drawings can create a drama to feed the imagination and get the juices flowing. 'Storyboards' is a topic discussed on this site (see link at end of this page).

Because this is an adhesive tape page, here are just a few frames from one of my favourite Joe T scenarios. Biff and Brad, two of the artist's regular characters, know how to handle themselves and their bikes - and know how to deal with anybody who crosses their path.

PLANTING EVIDENCE

The nine-sheet story starts with Joe T's biker buddies heading for Rack's garage.
By sheet six of the storyboard, the garage-hand takes a swing at Brad ... who instinctively reaches for whatever is handy in the workshop
(the single frame pictures do not expand)

The plot is about the mechanic trying to get our heros busted by planting drugs in their saddfle bags, but just look at the body language as ...

... the bikers decide to take the garage-hand in hand ...

and take him for a ride, well taped and trussed under a leather jacket and roped to a bike.
They head for somewhere quiet ... where anything might happen!
