Agreeing to a no-opt-out contract between two players
in advance of a seriously challenging scene is a complicated topic
which has stimulated a lot of discussion.

The idea of a legally binding and enforcable contract
does perhaps sound far-fetched. At an international event
the subject was argued out and a workable proposition explored.

In advance of the get-together, I wrote ...

… you may remember at last years 'Long term imprisonment' public discussion, my main criticism was the inevitable 'let-out' option - because whatever prior agreements are made, if the detainee/victim changes his or her mind part-way through and demands release, to keep them against their will becomes a crime irrespective of any prior agreement ... unless a legal contract can be not only devised BUT DEFENDED IN COURT if necessary.

This problem I have now discussed with a couple of USA lawyers and think I'm on the way to an interesting solution. All that's needed in one static video camera on a tripod and an off-camera voice to ask the questions …

That correspondence and a subsequent public discussion/demonstration was then
written up as a chapter in the book - "So I Like To Get Tied-up ... So What?!!" . Under the heading INDUCTION INTERVIEW I develop the idea for a project I called "UNDER WRAPS":

... to introduce the project I've devised an advertisement and am in the process of drafting a Briefing Document and Agreement Form. In addition to this I enclose here details of an INDUCTION INTERVIEW which in itself might produce a lot of interesting video footage. During this on-camera question and answer sequence every prospective candidate for a challenging long-term restraint session will sit facing the camera and not only verbally agree to a range of possibilities (which he has previously agreed to on paper), but be asked to restate on camera that he is prepared to accept a point at which any future change of heart on his part will be denied by force if necessary

This on-camera question and answer sequence will, in itself, will produce a lot of hot and tense video footage. - and the topic of home-video of game playing will also be discussed during the "Submit" session.

INDUCTION INTERVIEW

VOLUNTEER MUST PREVIOUSLY HAVE BEEN INTERVIEWED, BRIEFED ON A PROPOSED 'RESTRAINT ENDURANCE' PSEUDOSCIENTIFIC / ACADEMIC EXPERIMENT AND ALREADY COMPLETED AND SIGNED AN EXTENSIVE QUESTIONNAIRE / AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE.

BEFORE THIS INTERVIEW HE MUST ALSO HAVE AGREED TO REPEAT HIS AGREEMENT ON VIDEO.

CAMERA ON TRIPOD POSITIONED BEFORE A METAL CHAIR WHICH IS AGAINST A BLANK WALL.

VOLUNTEER WALKS INTO SHOT BEHIND CHAIR. HE MAY BE WEARING KHAKI COVERALLS, ARMY FATIGUES OR HIS OWN CLOTHES? HE CARRIES IDENTIFICATION CHALK BOARD.

INTERVIEWER MUST AT THIS POINT INTRODUCE ANY PREVIOUSLY WRITTEN EXCLUSIONS NOT VERBALLY RESTATED BY THE SUBJECT.

In your written agreement you have confirmed that beating, striking, physical and verbal abuse will not be included in the experiment: not because you stipulated it, but because the objective is survival of the effects of restraint, immobilisation and isolation. Correct?
